Important Shea Butter Update
This year’s shea butter crop was poor, creating a significant shortage in the market. Because of this, some batches of our products may contain yellow shea butter instead of the traditional white.
The difference comes down to processing:
- White shea butter is more refined, resulting in a lighter color.
- Yellow shea butter often gains its color naturally during milling or refining, sometimes from the addition of plant-based dyes such as borututu root or other botanicals.
Please know that both yellow and white shea butter offer the same nourishing benefits—deep hydration, soothing properties, and long-lasting moisture for your skin. The only difference is the color.
At Michelle’s Creations, our shea butter is refined to ensure quality, purity, and consistency. No matter which variety you receive, you can trust it will meet our high standards.
